The Evangelization Ministry is comprised of several committees/programs, some of which are currently operating, some of which we hope to implement in the near future.
Currently in place:
· Welcome Ministry, under the leadership of Charlotte Locklear, has a mission of hospitality and is active in several ways in the life of the church. As we continue to emerge from covid and physical facility restrictions, this ministry will continue to become more active.
· Assigns greeters at the doors for masses.
· A monthly coffee hour, open to parishioners and to the neighborhood, every second Sunday between 10 and 11 a.m. Twice a year, instead of the coffee hour, the ministry provides a hot dog or ice cream social at 12:30 p.m.
· "Bring a friend to Mass" Sunday to help increase membership.
· A welcome packet with parish information available to new (and current) members.
· Registration forms for unregistered parishioners.
· A multipurpose card asking for suggestions and inviting those in the congregation to join one or more of the many ministries, faith-fostering activities, and committees.
· Catholics with Questions’ mission is to facilitate a safe environment where Catholics who are considering returning to the Church may bring their hurts, disagreements, and misunderstandings. The group has several current Catholics who bring their questions, fears, doubts, and misunderstanding to this same safe environment. We learn from Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, other Catholic sources, and from each other.
Hoping to implement (will be looking for volunteers to chair these groups):
· Senior citizen’s ministry will look to keep our senior citizens, especially the homebound, connected with Christ and their faith community.
· Looking for volunteers to call pastorate members for wellness checks and to familiarize them with online opportunities, such as on-line Mass streaming, at-home Eucharist, Bible study, faith formation, and Catholics with Questions.
· Grief Ministry’s mission is to support for those who have lost loved ones by sharing and experiencing God’s comfort.
· Divorced group’s mission is to support those going through divorce, annulment, and/or remarriage, learning Church teachings about all three, as many Catholics misunderstand those teachings.
· Singles Group hopes to provide a combination of social activity, faith-sharing, and learning about God’s call to the single life through Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
· Outreach ministry has the mission most Catholics think of when they hear the word “evangelization,” reaching out to former members of the Church and to the unchurched in group and one-on-one settings in our communities, organizations, and workplaces through faith-sharing, learning, and social opportunities.
